"Which way?" he asks, instead of giving her an actual answer. But it's the best idea she's had in ages, and that's really saying something.

It'd be a lie for him to say he's wanted this for some time now; while casually considering sex with your coworkers may as well be a national pastime, this isn't something he ever seriously considered until he was already dead. Until there wasn't really much chance of it at all.

Seems somewhat ridiculous now that he never considered someone that'd been right in front of him for years.

"Then we should figure out when to try it." She's into work mode now the fact that she's naked beside the man she's wanted for years very nearly forgotten. "That's amazing Owen."

[beat_death]

Of course she'd want to get right on it. That's Tosh. And under different circumstances, it'd be him as well.

"We're going to find someone else to test it on," he decides.

[did_good]

"Owen," she says, annoyance starting to build. They've had this conversation and they've decided it already. She's the only person that's ethical or logical. "We can't do that."

[beat_death]

"It wouldn't be the worst thing we've ever done," Owen reasons, because she can't really argue about that. And as confident as he is in his tests, he'd rather the first guinea pig be some random Darrow resident instead of her.

[did_good]

"Which isn't an excuse, and it's no reason to do it here. This isn't Cardiff." Never mind that it's wrong, and she knows she should have spoken up about some of the things that Jack did before instead of burying her head in the sand. There's enough guilt she carries around over that already. "Besides, these Darrow people, how do we know what will work on them and what won't? They're not good subjects, not for this trial."

[beat_death]

"Then someone not from here," he says, and knows he's reaching. Tosh didn't budge on this the last time, and there's nothing to suggest that she will now.

"Someone we know showed up on the train."

[did_good]

"Someone we know? Who?" If it was anyone from Torchwood he would have told her, she was sure of that. "Who was it?"

[beat_death]

"Okay, someone I know," he says, and he's bullshitting. He knows he's bullshitting. He hasn't got anyone in mind for this, doesn't think that he could find someone for this.

"Someone from the island I was on."

[did_good]

"No." It's enough, she thinks that she's offered and that she believes in him, and the work that he's done. Tosh sits, pulling her legs up to her chest and wrapping her arms about them. "No, we decided."

[beat_death]

"You decided," Owen says, and he sits up as well. As he looks at her, Owen idly thinks that Tosh has got great tits and it's ridiculous they're sitting here discussing this right now, but the thought is quickly pushed away.

"I don't have to like it."

[did_good]

"You don't. But you do have to accept it. We can't just pick some other person." She tilts her head to look at him, her eyes wide and sad. To think they finally have sex only to argue afterward. It's fitting somehow, but that's just as depressing a thought. "I'll be fine. I have you to make sure that I am."

[beat_death]

Owen's frown deepens, but he doesn't offer another word of protest. Instead, he just moves to the end of the bed, swinging his legs over to hang off the side.

"Where's your toilet?" he asks.

[did_good]

"Across the wall," she says numbly, reaching for the silk robe pooled next to the bed. Tosh slipped it on. Tying it shut, she pads out to the kitchen, filling a glass with water from the kitchen. She doesn't know what's going on anymore.

When he makes it back to the bedroom, Tosh is gone. Confused, he pulls on his trousers and walks into the kitchen on bare feet, finding her with a glass.

"I was wondering where you'd gone," he says.

Maybe she's over-reacting, reading too much into things. It wouldn't be the first time, Tosh knows, offering him a smile. "Just wanted some water. Would you like one?"

[beat_death]

"I was also promised leftover pizza," Owen says, quiet as he looks at her, trying not to think of the argument he's abandoned. She was right, he knows, but that doesn't mean he has to say so out loud.

[did_good]

"Alright," she says, feeling tension leave her shoulders at his words. It was just a case of making a mountain out of a molehill, and their argument over the testing hasn't affected the night so badly.

Her glass on the counter, she pulls the box from the fridge, along with the water jug. "Can you handle working the microwave?"

[beat_death]

"Think I can manage," he replies, "I think I've got a handle on how numbers work, so..."

He takes the box from her to open it, a slightly unimpressed look on his face. He's not drunk from a few glasses of champagne, and even if he was, the events of the evening would have no doubt sobered him up by now.

[did_good]

"Well, you heat the pizza, I'll get the water and meet me back in the bedroom?" Tosh offers it up hopefully, hoping that he'll stay longer, and that they can leave aside any discussions of work for at least a few hours.

[beat_death]

"Pizza in bed? Who are you and what have you done with Tosh?" Owen jokes, as he takes out a few slices, "You go ahead, I'll be back there in a second."

He wishes that he'd known they weren't really going to leave the bedroom though; he might not have put his trousers back on.
